IDJ Magazine drops The Nine
Our favourite music publication recently reviewed the third release on our sister label Downplay from up and coming producer Witchdoctor, dropping a whopping 9/10 on the EP with these kind words :
“London producer Witchdoctor delivers a fine three-tracker for Slime Recordings’ new UKG sub-label
Only the second release from young London producer Witchdoctor here, and if you’re fiending for some proper bumpin’ garage vibes you’ll be more than satisfied.
Coming on Downplay, a recently launched (this is DWN003) garage sub-label of bass music stalwarts Slime Recordings, there are three tracks on the EP. Champagne is up first, a skippy, string-laden affair that foregrounds chopped-up male vox in the classic MK/Todd Edwards style. 6AM itself follows, a more driving, house-ified cut that rocks a monster of a warping bassline – whack it up to plus 8 and you could have got away with this one at Niche. And then lastly there’s Wot U R, which looks like a grime record when you write the title down on paper, but sounds uncannily like a late 90s Tuff Jam production when you actually play the tune.”
